Prep girls basketball: Mesabi East, Hermantown tip off tourneys victorious

In prep girls basketball Tuesday, Mesabi East and Hermantown eached opened their respective tournaments with wins.
In the Wood City Classic at Cloquet High School, Mesabi East rallied to down Cloquet 51-49. The Giants move on to battle Crosby-Ironton Wednesday at 1pm, while Cloquet will host Virginia at 4:30pm.
In the Esko Coaches Classic at Esko High School, Hermantown defeated Cherry 68-50. The Hawks advance to face Esko for the championship Wednesday at 4:15pm.
