Prep Football: Rock Ridge wins inaugural season opener, Duluth East, Esko & MIB victorious at home

In prep football on Thursday, Rock Ridge picked up their first-ever win, while Duluth East and Esko earned big season opening victories at home.

In their inaugural season opener, Rock Ridge, a merger between Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia, downed North Woods 20-14. Ryan Manninen led with three touchdowns for the Wolverines.

Duluth East downed Hibbing 54-8. Austan Orvedahl scored three touchdowns for the Greyhounds, while Josh Kivela scored the sole touchdown for the Bluejackets.

Esko shut out Duluth Denfeld 37-0.

Mountain Iron-Buhl, ranked third in section 9-Man, defeated Hill City 74-6.
