Prep Boys Hockey: Superior advances, Ashland falls in playoffs, Hermantown wins regular season finale

Superior boys hockey picked up their first win of the playoffs on Tuesday, while the Ashland boys saw their season come to an end.

In the round one of the Division 1 Sectional 1 playoffs, seventh seeded Superior earned the 4-0 shutout win at home over No. 10 Tomah/Sparta. The Spartans advance to face No. 2 Eau Claire Memorial in Round 2 on Thursday. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.

Elsewhere in D1 Sectional 1, No. 11 Ashland suffered a 12-0 loss at No. 6 Chippewa Falls to finish their season 11-13 overall.

In their regular season finales, top ranked Hermantown in Class A defeated No. 8 Grand Rapids in Class AA 3-2 in overtime on the road. Max Plante tallied the game winning for the Hawks as the close out with a 23-2 record. The Thunderhawks finished 18-6-1.
