Police looking for driver in overnight pursuit, crash

Hermantown Police say they were involved in a car chase early Monday morning, that ended in Duluth. The suspect is still at large.

The incident started shortly before 2:45 a.m., near the intersection of Haines Road and Morris Thomas Road in Hermantown. Police say they attempted to perform a traffic stop on a driver who they suspected was impaired, but the driver ignored police and fled southbound on Haines road at high speeds.

Police say less than a minute later, the vehicle crashed into a retaining wall while rounding the turn onto Skyline Parkway in Duluth.

The driver fled the scene on foot, and police have not yet located them. There were two other people in the vehicle, who were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
