Paddleboarders rescued almost 100 yards offshore in Lake Superior

Saturday, two paddle boarders were rescued by the Duluth Fire Department after they drifted approximately 100 yards offshore.

Duluth Fire launched Marine units to make their way to the juvenile individuals.

Rescue crews say the likely reason for the teens drifting out into the lake was the abrupt wind change. In the morning there were light winds coming in from the east but then they switched from the southwest gusting to 22MPH

Both individuals were located and brought safely aboard Marine 19 at 3:24 PM with no injuries to report.
