Northlander’s headed out to Jay Cooke State Park over the weekend to hike and enjoy some wild flowers, at the Lady’s Slipper walk.

"People are enjoying themselves on the walk, they are seeing all sorts of beautiful flowers. Maybe even one’s they dont know about just having a good time out there. Like you said smelling the fresh air, enjoying the sunshine and sound of the birds, it’s a great walk. It is about a two mile walk round trip, there is some hill to go up on the first part, but once we get up there we are on flat grassy trails the rest of the way," said park naturalist Kristine Hiller.

The hike leads across the St. Louis River to a scenic hillside of Yellow Lady’s-Slipper flowers.
