This weekend the No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team will make a road trip to take on No. 16 University of Nebraska at Omaha.

The two game road series will mark the Bulldogs return to Baxter Arena for the first time since the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Pod in December, 2020.

"Obviously [it was] a great way to start the year, playing a lot of games after practicing for two months," UMD head coach Scott Sandelin recalled. "Just trying to make sure we keep building off last weekend."

"It’s going to be weird because obviously in the Pod there was no fans and we’re going to go back to Baxter and see a full crowd," junior forward Quinn Olson added. "It’s going to be nice to go back there and hopefully we get two wins."

Coming off a win and tie over Miami University in Ohio last weekend, now 12-8-2 UMD is hungry for more against an 14-8 Mavericks squad that was somewhat overlooked in NCHC preseason rankings.

Puck drop on Friday is set for 7:07pm and Saturday at 6:07pm.
