At this point it’s safe to call the Mountain Iron-Buhl (MIB) girls basketball team a dynasty.

For the 11th time in 12 years the Rangers, ranked number one in the state in Class A, will step back onto the state courts this week after defeating Cromwell-Wright 63-26 in the Section 7A title game on Friday.

‘We’ve seen a lot of teams in the state and we like our chances," Jeff Buffetta said, head coach of MIB. "It’s never easy when you get down there. You’ve got to take one game at a time but we’re confident, I think the girls are confident. I think they just want to go down there and represent northern Minnesota the best they can."

Senior forward Ava Butler added, "we have gone 11 times but every time feels so good and so different in its own way, and it’s just really exciting."

The top seeded Rangers will carry a 12 game win streak and 27-3 overall record into the Minnesota State High School girls basketball Class A quarterfinals. They’ll first meet 26-4 Minneota. Tip off is set for 11am Thursday at Maturi Pavilion in Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
