New art exhibit at Great Lakes Aquarium

The Great Lakes Aquarium introduced a new art exhibit titled "Immersed in the Pause" Wednesday evening.

The series, by artist Kelly Shamberger, explores the connections to the natural world around Duluth, Lake Superior, and the Arrowhead region.

Shamberger said the creation of the series also served a therapeutic purpose.

Coming out of the pandemic was super dark and trying to find that peace and [asking] ‘How do we find we find calm when everything’s been so chaotic?’”, explained Shamberger. “I was actually super depressed, so it was like, ‘How do I come out of this through my art work?’”

“Immersed in the Pause” will be on display in the Merrill Lynch Fine Arts Gallery until September 6th.

All the paintings in the series are available for purchase.
