Earlier in the week the Proctor/ Hermantown Mirage girls hockey team successfully defended their Section 7A championship by shutting out Duluth Marshal 3-0.

They’ll now get an opportunity to defend their state title, back stopped by senior goaltender Abby Pajari, and standout forward Reese Heitzman.

"The nerves never go away for these kind of games. I was always just ready for anything that was going to come my way. Super excited to be back at the state tournament, because we knew this year everyone was going to be out to beat us, especially Marshall in redemption from last years section final, and it just amazing to be back again," said Pajari.

"It feels great you know, we talked about that big target on our back and we would have to come out strong. Try not take anything for granted. Nothing is given to us we always have to work for it," added Heitzman.

The girls state hockey quarterfinals begin Wednesday, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
