Man accused of firing shots out of Superior apartment window

A man is in jail after allegedly firing shots out of a Superior apartment window and hiding the gun under a child’s mattress.

Police say numerous people called 911 on Friday evening to report that a male was shooting a gun out of a second-story window in the 700 block of Bridge Avenue, which is in the North End neighborhood.

Police say a man in the apartment also called 911 to report that he was not the shooter, but police arrested a man in the apartment who had been identified by witnesses.

A police news release did not indicate that there were any injuries. However, possible bullet holes were found in a nearby house, waste bin, parked car, and garage.

Officers conducted sobriety tests and determined that the suspect was intoxicated. He faces possible charges of recklessly endangering safety, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, probation violation, and going armed with a firearm while intoxicated.

A 23-year-old woman and a two-year old child were also in the apartment. After obtaining a search warrant, officers found a handgun under the child’s mattress.

The woman was also arrested for resisting/obstructing arrest, attempted battery to a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct.

Formal charges were still pending as of Monday.
