Local venues are enforcing new COVID-19 prevention mandates

Venues and businesses across the northland are taking a stricter stance against covid-19. Zeitgeist, Duluth Art Institute, and Nor Shor Theatre are venues in Duluth that are taking it to the next level.

“We kind of followed the lead of Broadway, several regional theaters in Minnesota, and across the country that are requiring proof of vaccination or recent negative COVID test with in the last 72 hours”, says Phillip Fazio Producing Artistic Director of Duluth Playhouse.

For Nor Shor Theater, requirements this strict weren’t in place during the beginning of the summer, but now as time has gone on they’ve adapted.

Fazio says, “unfortunately with the transmission rates going up and with there being so many breakthrough infections of those who are vaccinated, we just want make sure we take that extra step to be as safe as possible.”

The theater says this will keep patrons healthy and as a benefit reduce anxieties. "We’ve gotten terrific feedback from our patrons, saying thank you for taking this step. Now I feel safe in coming back to the theater”, says Fazio.

The theater hopes that these new mandates will allow ticket sales to continue on throughout the rest of the year.
