Local companies see good business thanks to Northland winter weather

Some people dread winter weather forecasts. For people like Chase Kirkwood, it means good business.

"Where better than Duluth, Minnesota to be in the outside business?"

Opening up shop in 2019, Kirkwood’s venture, Duluth Lawn and Snow, handles ice dam removal and any and all snow clearing.

"It’s a great area for a business like this because you get extreme seasons," said Kirkwood. "Just like the snow this year, it snows every year, guaranteed."

And with the amount of snow seen in the Northland so far this year, he says business has been booming.

"Most of our contracts are set up before the snowfall, but there’s always people that call us during snowstorms. There’s always work to do and be done. As long as you’re willing to go do it, you can go get it done."

Weather makers like Monday’s winter storm giving businesses like his plenty to do.

"It’s been a great year for business for us. Duluth is a great community to serve. we hope that we can help everyone that’s looking for service."
