Lake Superior School voters OK building upgrades, deny new athletic facilities

Voters in the Lake Superior School District cast ballots on two referendum questions on Tuesday. The first question was whether to approve $44.1 million for improvements and additions to the schools in Two Harbors and Silver Bay.

Unofficial results show voters were in support of Question 1 with 1,643 or 61% of the votes in favor of the $44.1 million referendum, to 1,044 or 39% against. Question 1 passes.

The second question would add $7.3 million for new athletic facilities.

The voters defeated this question, with unofficial results of 1,477 or 55% against and 1,193 or 45% in favor.
