Four times the South Shore boy’s basketball team has scored 90 or more points this season. Headlining that arsenal of shooting power is Koy Nelson who not only leads the team but the entire state in points per game.

"I have a good coaching staff and team that keeps encouraging me to keep shooting. I love this school, and I’m glad I’m breaking records. I mean it’s a really fun experience to be a part of the Cardinals," said Nelson, a senior guard.

Averaging over 35 points per game this season Nelson has set two new school records. On January 3rd he scored a single-game high 52 points and 12 threes. The Cardinal has a great role model to look as well, former South Shore star and Wisconsin’s all time leading scorer, WNBA Washington Mystic, Megan Gustafson.

"I wish to go pro as well," Nelson said. "Megan did really good, she worked hard, she got where she wanted to go and I want to do the same thing."

"The girls have had a lot of success in the past, had some really great players come out of this area and to have a kid like Koy it’s special," said Cardinals head coach Trevor Paulus.

So far Nelson has helped South Shore sit 7-2 overall.
