Duluth Police investigators say they do not believe there was any foul play involved in the death of a man on the Lakewalk.

They identified him Wednesday as 50-year-old Matthew Maki.

Police responded to the scene near the Rose Garden in Leif Erikson Park shortly before 10 a.m. In a Tuesday afternoon news release, the department said his body was found by a North Shore Scenic Railroad employee.

The nature of Maki’s death was not released. Though foul play is not believed to have been a factor, the department’s Major Crimes Unit is doing a followup on the incident.
