Hinckley superintendent moving to Ashland

The current superintendent of the Hinckley-Finlayson School District in Minnesota will be the new leader of schools in Ashland, Wis.

The Ashland School Board has decided to hire Rob Prater as its new superintendent. School Board Chair Jeff Moravchik said the board felt Prater’s passion for students.

"We believe he has the skills and experience to build strong community partnerships, to improve our school culture, and to raise student achievement. We have positive energy and momentum happening in Ashland and he will continue our progress. He will be a champion for Oredockers and support and value our excellent teachers, students and families," Moravchik said.

According to his biography on the Hinckley-Finlayson website, Prater has been the district’s superintendent for a decade and worked as the high school principal for five years before that. He worked as a social studies teacher after receiving his master’s degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona.

The bio says Prater and his wife have two children.

Prater will succeed Erik Olson, who left the position last year after three years with the district.
