Minnesota Wilderness and former Hermantown boys hockey standout Aaron Pionk is skating into the Division I level.

He announced Wednesday on Twitter that he’s committed to play hockey for Minnesota State University, Mankato.

So far this season the Wilderness defenseman has tallied 18 points with five goals and 13 assists in 31 games. As a senior with the Hawks last year Pionk was third on the team in points with 40.

On the Mavericks he’ll join fellow Hermantown alum Ryan Sandelin.
