On Thursday night the Grand Rapids football team saw their season come to an end in the Minnesota State High School football tournament.

Despite scoring two first half touchdowns the Thunderhawks fell 22-19 to Orono in the Class AAAA quarterfinals.

Afer the game head coach Greg Spahn said this won’t tarnish what was an overall successful season.

"I told them I was proud of how they battled and everything that they have done to change the program and everything they did this year. The score doesn’t always reflect how the game went." Spahn added, "I think these guys are going to be set for a long time."

The Thunderhawks close out their 2021 season with an 8-3 overall record.
