Giguere surpasses 250 career points, UMD shuts out BSU 9-0

Fifth year transfer Elizabeth Giguere surpassed 250 career points Friday as the Univeristy of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team shut out Bemidji State University (BSU) 9-0 on the road.

Tallying five assists she finished the afternoon with 251 career points (104 goals and 147 assists) becoming the first Bulldog since 2013 to register five points in a single game. She is now the 10th player in NCAA history to reach the 250 points mark.

UMD scored five goals in the first period, adding one in the second and three in the third, to secure the series opening shutout victory. They boasted eight different scorers with Anna Klein netting two goals and Gabbie Hughes contributing one goal and three assists.

Bulldog netminer Emma Soderberg tallied 20 saves for their third straight shutout.

UMD (4-4) and BSU will rematch in the series finale Saturday at 2:01pm in Bemidji.
