First virtual meeting about proposed mineral withdrawal

Dozens of people spoke during the first virtual public meeting about the U.S. Forest Service’s plan to withdraw 225,000 acres of land from mineral exploration near the Boundary Waters.

People signed up in advance to speak, and were chosen by lottery. They had three minutes to speak. Arguments included protecting the pristine wilderness, and then how industry can be done safely.
