Firefighters rescue woman from Minneapolis cave

Two people are safe after first responders rescued them from a cave behind Minnehaha Falls Wednesday.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews were called to the scene just before 6 p.m.

When they arrived, they found two adults deep inside the cave, including a woman who had seriously injured her ankle and wasn’t able to climb out.

Members of the rescue crew went down the stairs, embankment and into the cave with ropes and harnesses. They also splinted the woman’s ankle and put her in a rescue basket before they hauled her up.

The woman was then treated by HCMC paramedics before being taken to an area hospital.

No one else was injured during the incident.

The names and ages of the two people rescued from the cave weren’t immediately released.
