The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC) announced on Tuesday they are discontinuing their football program.

According to a press release, budget limitations and a lack of facilities largely contributed to the decision.

FDLTCC will continue to offer men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball, and will explore adding other options for future seasons.

"We realize the importance of activities to student engagement and how they contribute to the overall college experience," said Stephanie Hammitt, president of FDLTCC. "We will meet with student groups to investigate possible alternatives or options that we can provide to the larger student body to enhance their time on our campus."

Athletic director Laura Sylvester added, "providing activities for our students to be involved in is very important to us. We feel that participation in activities adds to the overall college experience, and we look forward to providing engaging opportunities for our students."

FDLTCC did not field a football team in either the 2020 or 2021 seasons due to COVID-19 precautions. The program kicked off their first season in 2007.
