On Monday basketball practices kicked off across Minnesota for highschool teams. We were able to get to Duluth East and catch up with the boys basketball team, who are coming off their first state appearance since 2012, and are looking to build off of a strong season.

"A lot of these guys have been in our basketball program for a long time but they have never really played a meaningful varsity minute before. So we are learning a lot along the way, and its been a good time the first three days. It’s a blessing to be in the gym at this point, and the kids are working hard and we are just trying to get better," head coach Rhett McDonald said about the team.

Senior player Will Van Scoy also added that, "it feels good, I’m really enjoying it so far and I’m looking forward to the season. It also helps because we are all just friends here and the culture we are building is good, and it flows, so its perfect."

It has become a next man up philosophy for the team, as they look to build the Greyhound legacy.

First game is December 7th, at Cloquet.
