A Northland athletic legend has passed away. Duluth native Norm Kragseth died last week at the age of 91, according to a former student.

Attending Central High School, Kragseth earned 23 athletic letters across seven sports while participating on 13 state championship teams in golf and skiing.

He went on to play and coach football at Northwestern University (Illinois), then later Hopkins High School. Kragseth would become a decorated linesman for Big Ten Conference football, the Minnesota Vikings, and the entire NFL.

He’s in the Duluth Tri-State Athletic Hall of Fame, Northwestern University Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Minnesota State High School League Hall of Fame.
