Douglas Co. Sheriff Tom Dalbec announces retirement

Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec announced he is retiring from the force at the end of 2022.

He made the announcement on his Facebook page.

Beginning in the field 31 years ago, Sheriff Dalbec spoke about the good and difficult times in his decades long career – saying in part, "law enforcement is a calling, it is certainly not a profession for everyone, but I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have made great, long lasting friendships with many people, and for that I am forever grateful."

A new sheriff will be sworn in on January 3, 2023.
