CSS’ Beneke, Boone qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

The College of St. Scholastica’s (CSS) Lily Beneke and Calvin Boone have each qualified for the Division III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
This will be the first time since 2016 the Saints will send multiple individuals.
A last chance qualifier, Boone secured a spot in the 1,500 meter run. He won the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Qualifier on Wednesday night with a time of of 3:47.65.
Beneke placed first in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships in hammer throw with a mark of 173’9" (52.95m). She has become the first CSS female thrower since 2014 to qualify nationally.
The championships will take place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio beginning on Thursday. The prelims of the men’s 1,500m will take place at 5:50 p.m. (ET). The women’s Hammer Throw will take place next Saturday at 11 a.m. (ET). The finals of the men’s 1,500m would also be on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. (ET).
