Come February 1st, drivers with Arrowhead Transit will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Otherwise, they’ll be placed on leave. That’s according to AFSCME Council 65.

Labor representative Tom Whiteside shared they have been bargaining for regular testing instead. The mandate was announced back in December. Masks are required on the buses.

"I’m hearing certain garages are going to be severely reduced in the number of drivers they have," Whiteside said. "The impact on folks who need that service in rural Minnesota is really important. And I have major concerns that people aren’t going to be able to get to their appointments, to work, and to the store to get food."

One driver we spoke with said he loves his job, but doesn’t want others to lose theirs. He also understands management’s position.

Another driver said his last shift is Saturday, and that he is tired of his rights being stomped on.

We have not been able to reach Arrowhead Transit for comment.
