After a few years of planning, the new Costco location is set to open this month in Duluth. Despite nationwide shortages of various building products, this location will be ready on time.

General Manager John Kuzas is happy to be back in his home town and eager to open the new store.

“We’ve been very excited to be in Duluth,” Kuzas said. “It’s been a long time coming for us, and we’re looking forward to opening here in about three weeks.”

Approximately 200 employees will work at this location, and the staffing is almost full. The tire shop, bakery and optical departments, and front-end cashier assistance all have openings.

“It’s a great company to work for,” said Kuzas. “We have great pay and good benefits, including benefits for part-time employees.”

The grand opening will be on October 28 th, with a ribbon cutting at 7:45am. Employees have been working hard to inform the community about the new location.

“We have tents all around the Duluth area and surrounding communities, so we’re there to answer questions about our grand opening and also to tell you a little bit about our memberships,” Kuzas explained.

The Gold Star and Business level memberships cost $60 per year. The executive membership is $120 a year and includes up to 2% cash back on most purchases.

“We’re a one-stop shop,” explained Kuzas. “We have pharmacy, hearing aid, optical, general merchandise. We sell tires, we sell gasoline. So everything you’re looking for, you can find at Costco, and we’re very excited to be here in the Duluth area.”
