Cleveland-Cliffs provided an update about their vaccine incentive program.

They said on Tuesday that 75% of their employees have been vaccinated. That’s up significantly from the 35% of employees vaccinated before the program began.

Under the program, each vaccinated employee is getting $1500 from the company. And if the site gets to 75% vaccination rate, then the company committed to paying each vaccinated employee an additional $1500.

In our area, Cliffs said United Taconite achieved the 75% rate. 27 out of the 43 sites achieved the rate of at least 75%.

The incentive totals are slightly different than the original proposal.

Last week, a group of a couple hundred Cliffs employees gathered for a rally to protest any potential vaccine mandates.
