This year, some military veterans will be waking up to Christmas gifts. ANL Properties in Duluth and employees of Anthem Healthcare and Insurance Company throughout Minnesota helped to donate items the Christmas gifts.

During the holiday season, it can be rough on veterans even for active service members. We talked to an active military member about what giving back to veterans means to her because she gets it.

As someone who has been away from her family during service, Kaitlyn knows exactly what these veterans are feeling. "Being home, being out of the military, and you are still missing holidays, it does not feel, you do not get that sense of home, you do not get that sense of belonging; like everyone is gone. "It is just important that they feel at home, they feel special, they feel appreciated. Bringing these extra gifts to people who otherwise would not get them is very important”, says Kaitlyn Ungerecht; an army/national guard combat medic and red cross volunteer.

The Red Cross delivered 66 presents to 26 nursing homes throughout the Northland.
