Body of missing Grand Rapids man found on his property

The body of a missing Grand Rapids man has been found on his property.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says no foul play is suspected in the death of 69-year-old Douglas Hafar, who hadn’t been seen since December.

Hafar’s disappearance was noted when the U.S. Postal Service reported that his mail was not being collected. Police said in a missing persons alert issued Tuesday that his vehicle was at his residence, but he could not be located.

On Wednesday, the Itasca County Search and Rescue Team conducted a search of Hafar’s property and found his body.

The nature of Hafar’s death was not released. His body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
