Coming off weekend sweeps both the University of Minnesota (UMD) men’s and women’s hockey teams have risen one spot in the latest rankings.

After downing the University of Minnesota 5-3 Friday and 2-1 Saturday, the Bulldog men took over the Gopher’s spot at number four in this week’s U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll.

Contributing two goals and an assist on the weekend Hermantown native Blake Biondi earned the team’s first National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Forward of the Week honor so far this season.

Taking care of the University of St. Thomas 3-0 Saturday and 7-0 Sunday, the Bulldog women moved up to No. 7 in the USCHO rankings.

A two point performance from freshman Gabby Krause, which included her first collegiate goal, earned her Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Rookie of the Week.
