Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon to host inaugural golf scramble fundraiser

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is launching an inaugural golf scramble fundraiser on Sunday.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the non-profit’s race operations.

It will be held at Black Bear Golf Course in Cloquet. Registration begins at 9am with a shot gun start at 10am.

Beargrease board member Billie Thompson said donations are what make the race possible.

"The Beargrease really does run on the donors and the volunteers," Thompson said. "And it’s just kind of fun to see the mushers, there will be a couple mushers [golfing]. Just like the sled dogs are going all year round, fundraising and the Beargrease is going to be going all year round too."
