On Friday, WDIO’s Mariam Mackar spoke to Governor Tim Walz for an in depth conversation with a number of topics and hot button issues on the minds of many Minnesotans.

First, Governor Walz touched on the changes coming to three state-run community COVID-19 testing sites. Starting next week, the sites, including Duluth will become test-to-treat locations. This will allow Minnesotans to get tested for COVID-19 and, if positive and determined to be high-risk, receive a prescription for medication at the same time.

The governor also spoke with Mariam about the controversy surrounding abortion rights and the plan for Minnesota. Gov. Walz says the health and well-being is the most fundamental right. He says this is "between a woman and their provider." He says Minnesota will continue to protect this fundamental freedom.

Mariam and Gov. Walz also spoke about his views on fire arm legislation and school safety.
