70% of UW-Superior students now vaccinated

The University of Wisconsin-Superior has reached administrators’ goal of a 70% student vaccination rate.

As part of the UW System’s "70 for 70" campaign, the milestone means that fully-vaccinated UWS students are now eligible to win one of 70 scholarships valued at $7,000. The deadline for students to get vaccinated to be eligible for the scholarship contest is Oct. 31.

"I cannot express how proud I am of our students," UWS Chancellor Dr. Renee Wachter said in a news release. "Reaching this milestone will go a long way in ensuring a strong and vibrant campus."

UW System President Tommy Thompson, who visited campus last week to encourage vaccinations, called the achievement "a sign of the hard work and commitment of the university’s staff and administration."

UWS is the tenth school in the UW System to reach the 70% milestone. UW-Madison has a separate campaign with a vaccination rate of over 90%.
