18-year-old pedestrian injured in Bemidji hit-and-run

An 18-year-old was injured in a Tuesday morning hit and run in Bemidji.

Just before 4:20 a.m., Bemidji Police responded to a hit and run involving a pedetrian at Paul Bunyan Dr. South.

Emergency crews arrived to find the victim on the ground severly injured. During this time, officers noted a vehicle traveling north from the crash site and caught up with the suspected car.

Officer’s found evidence on the vehicle matching the hit and run and arrested the driver, 18-year-old Kyler Edward Thomas Kane Decent of Northrome, Minn.

The 18-year-old pedestrian victim was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji and is in stable condition. The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

Alchohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
