No. 4 Cherry boy’s basketball drops to No. 1 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Class A state semifinals

The No. 4 Cherry boy’s basketball team came close but fell to top-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 61-57 in the Class A state semifinals at Target Center Friday afternoon.

The Tigers led 27-24 after the first half but the Knights outshot Cherry 37-30 in the second to advance to the title game.

Isaac Asuma led the Tigers with 21 points while the Knights’ Aiden Wichmann led the game with 23 points.

Cherry, for the second straight season, will now battle for third place in Class A. Tip-off is Saturday at 10 a.m. at Concordia University against Spring Grove. For the bracket, Click Here.
