UMD play traveling to prestigious college theatre festival, raising funds with encore performance

The University of Minnesota Duluth’s Department of Theatre’ is headed back to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival with their production of “Stupid F##king Bird.” The cast and crew will take Aaron Posner’s adaptation of “The Seagull” by Anton Chekov to Des Moines, Iowa where the week long festival is hosted.

The play, which initially ran at the Marshall Center in November 2022, follows “a dysfunctional group of artists, lovers, and free spirits as they clumsily navigate a world riddled with grief, ego, passion, hypocrisy, and the inevitable loss of hope.”

They’ll host an encore performance of the play to raise funds to travel to the festival. It will be presented on Saturday, January 14 at 7:30pm in the Marshall Performing Arts Center on UMD’s campus.

Tickets are now on sale at $40 each. Please note the play contains adult language, adult content, and refences to suicide.
