Based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, La Cage aux Folles focuses on a gay couple: George, the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and Albin, his romantic partner and star attraction, and the farcical adventures that ensue when George's son, Jean-Michel, brings home his fiancée's ultra-conservative parents to meet them.

This story was also made into a film called The Birdcage, starring Nathan Lane and Robin Williams in 1996.

Tod Petersen and Shad Olsen, who play the two leads in the production, joined us on Good Morning Northland. Tod is a professional actor in the Twin Cities and is a guest artist joining us for this production. Shad is a regular on our stage.

The performance runs from April 20 to May 7. Showtimes are Wednesday- Saturday at 7:30 p.m. And Sunday at 2 p.m. There are also matinee shows starting at 2 p.m. on April 29 and May 6.

Tickets may be purchased online, by calling 218.733.7555, or in-person at the box office during regular business hours. More information can be found on their website.
