Two die in head-on crash near Hayward

Two people died and three others were injured in a head-on crash north of Hayward on Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Doug Mrotek released information on the crash Thursday. According to the news release, the  crash happened Wednesday at about 9:38 a.m. on Highway 77/27 at the intersection with County Road T.

The news release says an eastbound SUV driven by a Milwaukee woman was travelling left of center and collided head-on with a westbound car driven by a Hayward woman.

Two male passengers who were in the back seat of the SUV died at the scene of the crash. Their ages, names, and hometowns have not been released.

The drivers of both vehicles as well as a female passenger in the SUV were also injured.

The Wisconsin State Patorl and Sawyer County Coroner's Office are assisting the sheriff's office in its investigation of the crash.
