Several groups are working together to hold a ceremony in Ashland to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The two-hour program at the Ashland bandshell will begin at 7:15 a.m. and will include several speakers, patriotic music, a 21-gun salute, and the sounding of Taps. Since seating at the bandshell is limited, organizers are encouraging people to bring a lawn chair and be seated by 7:15.

Emergency response equipment will also be on display along U.S. Highway 2.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to Salem Church.

The program is being organized by the United Chequamegon Veterans in conjunction with the Ashland Fire Department, the Ashland Police Department, and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department.
