Mental health cases have increased since the start of the pandemic and now there’s mission to bring more resources to northern Wisconsin.

NAMI Wisconsin has reported that resources are lacking in Northern Wisconsin. They are now trying to expand some of their programs to more areas in that region.

Douglas area president Chrissy Barnard says, "We are noticing an increase of numbers in our support groups like a dramatic increase."

"Services are lacking in the Northland especially free services for peers and family members that need the assistance in mental health challenges",

The expansion sees more personal travel to both Ashland and Bayfield counties to help staff their programs.

"Douglas county has had a strong NAMI affiliation here and we thought now's our chance and opportunity to expand to Ashland and Bayfield counties”, says Barnard.
