Ashland Police Chief stepping down

Ashland Police Chief Jim Gregoire is stepping down July 3.

He was hired as the top cop in 2016 but has been with the Ashland Police Department since March 1997. 

Gregoire said he's not sure what his next step is, but he said "it's just time" to retire from the force.

"I just want to be a regular person," he said, mentioning that he and his wife have been talking about him retiring for about a year. 

He's not sure what his next move is just yet. 

The Police and Fire Commission Chairman told the Ashland Daily Press that they will discuss the city's next steps at a June 29 meeting.
