The 17-day closure had been scheduled to begin Friday in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, the county announced on Friday that the order had been rescinded.

Friday's statement did not specify why the order had been rescinded.

The order had been slated to be in effect through Sunday, Oct. 11, and would have included all bars and taverns in the City of Ashland as well as within 2.5 miles of city limits.

The earlier order had noted that the majority of new COVID-19 cases in Ashland County are "directly related to spontaneous gatherings in bars and/or tavern type establishments with no less than 7 establishments identified as sources of exposure."
