The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10:00 p.m. Saturday for parts of the Northland. This will be the first accumulating snow event of the season. The National Weather Service says to plan on slippery road conditions.
The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 4PM Saturday for Itasca, Cass, Crow Wing and Aitkin Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Bois Forte Band, Deer Creek area, Mille Lacs Band, and Big Sandy Lake area. The WDIO Storm Team says some areas in Itasca could see up to 6 inches of snow.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10PM for St. Louis and Carlton Counties until 10 p.m. The snowfall amounts in this region will vary.
The Arrowhead of Minnesota will remain under the Winter Weather Advisory until 1AM. This includes Cook and Lake Counties and the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation. Roads will become slippery with on and off snowfall. The WDIO Storm Team says easterly to southeasterly winds off the lake could cause higher amounts of snow along the North Shore due to lake effect.
Areas south of Duluth and northwestern Wisconsin should shift to a mix of snow and rain.
The WDIO Storm Team is following this system and will provide updates.
