MnDOT: Travel Not Advised Due to Blowing Snow and White-out Conditions

Duluth, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota State Patrol are advising motorists to stay home.  No unnecessary travel is advised until visibility improves. There have been multiple reports of crashes on area highways and freeways.

The State Patrol reports that motorists have been stopping on Interstate 35 just south of Duluth due to near zero visibility. Sustained winds of 33 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph have been reported in Duluth. The strong winds have reduced visibility to near zero.

Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and take the next exit to get off the freeway. The State Patrol says you should not stop on the freeway.

MnDOT recommends checking 511mn.org before traveling.
