DULUTH, Min. -- Some new technology is helping people to get outside even in the coldest temperatures and most dangerous wind chills. One is a European-based product called Lungplus and a Duluth woman is its U.S. distributer.

Eve Graves is a winter weather enthusiast that suffers from asthma. And for her, it gets unbearable in these cold snaps. Her solution, Lungplus.

"It's like breathing warm summer humid air! That's exactly what it's like!" explained Eve Graves the Lungplus U.S. Distributor. Graves also has an allergy to the cold, called cold urticarial.

"It really helps because it warms up your lungs and your entire body!" said Graves.
All you do is out it in your mouth like a pacifier and breathe normal! What it’s doing is warming the incoming air in the chambers and putting warm air into your lungs.

"Anytime someone’s lungs are effected by cold weather, this will be a night and day difference. It can change your life, it's changed a lot of lives so far. It changed mine." Said Graves.
It also changed Mike King's life 5 years ago. He enjoyed being active in the warmer months but in winter, his asthma would constrict his lungs.
"If it was cold like this, I wouldn’t even go out, I would just in the house. Because if I did something outside like going for a run or even just shoveling snow I would go out and I'd be wheezing, coughing, hacking for awhile afterwards. And now, even if I'm shoveling snow or going out for a ski or run or whatever, I put that in and I'm good." explained Mike King, a Superior Wisconsin resident.

But what about exposed skin?

"Right now, with this weather, you've got to have something on all of your exposed skin." said Graves.

Graves and King use a product called Warm Skin. It’s a thick lotion that acts as a barrier to the cold. The packaging says it allows your skin to breathe while protecting it.

Currently NFL teams are using this product on their arms when they are out on the field.

"It's like having a beard, without having a beard!" laughed Graves.

It stays on your for hours, in fact, it doesn’t come off until you take it off.

"I usually put it on about 15-20 minutes before I go out, it makes a big difference.” said King.

Warm Skin is sold at several local stores, including Tortoise and Hare, Marine General and also Ski Hut. Meanwhile, Graves sells Lungplus mostly online but it can also be found and Tortoise and Hare.

This story has been updated to remove references to frostbite. The product Warm Skin does not claim to prevent frostbite.
