Lea Zmurko:  Another blustery morning in the Northland

January 21: Wild windchills in the morning

It's another chilling day in the Northland with widespread extreme cold, luckily temps will finally start to increase by tomorrow.

The Northland continues to remain under an extreme cold warning as windchill temperatures remain at 20 to 30 degrees below zero. Skies will be staying clear across northern MN and some clouds will be collecting eastward along the South Shore as lake effect snow moves across the region.

The bitter air will continue through the afternoon, but temperatures should start to increase and begin the rise to positive temperatures with less staggering wind chills by tomorrow.

A quick clipper system will cut across tonight into Wednesday bringing 0.5 an inch to 2 inches of light snow to the area. Lake effect snow will persist for the South Shore elevating accumulation amounts as the snow continues through Thursday.

Conditions remain quite afterwards as temperatures stay near normal into the weekend with a few additional chances for a light dusting of lake effect snow.
