Justin Liles: Cleaning up and getting extremely warm

Grandma’s Marathon may have been delayed a half hour at the start, but the showers and thunderstorms are through, and the rest of the day looks pleasant. Lake winds will keep the shoreline cooler for the majority of the day, but the sun will win out, and the oppressive heat returns.

Increasing heat and humidity this weekend. Heat indices are likely to reach over 100°F. Limit outdoor exposure during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, and stay cool. Young children, older adults, and those with serious health conditions are most likely to be affected by the extreme heat – check on your friends, family, and neighbors! Also, do not leave anything, people or animals, locked in your car. More thunderstorms return Sunday night into Monday.
